For over 100 years the Ideal Home Show has been helping to transform British Homes. The show is the go-to destination for consumers to see the latest in everything from kitchens and bathrooms, to bedrooms and basements, from fixtures and fittings to fine food, gardens and the latest gadgets, plus fashion, beauty and gifts. Mark visited the show this week to check out how brands were embracing social media and integrating this into their stands.

The show has been very active on Twitter, and has been frequently tweeting using the #IHS hashtag – this is the best way to view all the digital content available. Ideal Home themselves took the opportunity to show how they are now a multi-channel publication, by using a simple info-graphic on how readers can connect with the magazine on more than just the traditional paper format.

Mark spotted several stands using a hashtag to start conversations on social media, including British Standard, who used #BritishStandardIHS to generate conversations about their stand and their new range of products inside their ‘Shepherd’s Hut’ display.

However, our favourite spot from the Ideal Home Show came from Smeg, who had a fully integrated competition running from their stand. Visitors were encouraged to take a photo behind the wheel of the ‘Smeg500’ and post the photo on social media channels using the hashtag #Smeg500 and mentioning the brands Twitter handle. The best picture will be selected by the brand and will win a brand new fridge.

The Ideal Home Show runs until the 30th March, so if you spot any noteworthy social media campaigns, please let us know in the comments below!
