Facebook “haha”, “wow”, “love”, “sad”, “angry”
Are you ready to “haha, “wow”, “love” be “sad” or be “angry”? We hope so! From today Facebook has rolled out their new “Like” emoji’s world wide. Whether it was pressure from his colleagues or demand from users, Mark Zuckerberg conceded that the platform needed a new way to express users “Likes” on posts. We can now simply long-press on mobile—or, on a computer, hover—over the “like” button, to access five additional animated emoji with which to express themselves.
Without pointing out the obvious that not every post is ‘likeable’ “Mark gathered a bunch of people in a room and was like, ‘hey we’ve been hearing this feedback from people for a really, really long time,’” recalls Julie Zhuo, a product design director at Facebook who worked on the reactions product.
Previously users had the option to post a sticker or write a comment…however with 1.44 billion people accessing Facebook on their mobile (December 2015) comments are time expensive, especially on mobile, and the path was set – we needed new quick and easy ways to express our feelings on our friends and brands posts alike!
