Our homes & lifestyle division works with a wide variety of consumer brands from kitchen solution provider Joseph Joseph to heritage tableware and bathroom brand Villeroy & Boch. However, some of our specialist interiors clients need to reach a trade audience and interior designers in particular in order to be included when they are specifying for private residential and commercial projects. We have an extensive network of interior designers and we set about talking to them to find out what printed media they read, are influenced by and rate highly. We spoke to 101 different interior design firms spread across the UK, ranging in size from less than 5 employees to 100 employees.
In terms of reaching this trade audience through print media the most highly rated publications were FX and Blueprint. The focus of both titles on projects, materials, products and industry news has placed them much higher than all other trade publications. We must remember that interior designers are also consumers and are often reading the same media as their own clients. With this in mind, we also asked them about which glossy consumer magazines and national newspapers they read.
Over the next few months we will release the survey results on social media and how useful they find it for their work, what their top expectations are from brands they source from and what is the best way to stay in contact with them.
