Celebrating the launch of City A.M. Bespoke Living
We recently went to meet the Hot Property and Interiors Editor of City A.M. for lunch to celebrate the exciting launch of City A.M.’s Bespoke Living Magazine and to learn more about this new interiors magazine. Where better to enjoy a celebratory lunch than the newly opened Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden?
With a kitchen run by Sean Burbidge and the menu featuring some mouth-watering brunch, lunch and dinner dishes, including crispy duck salad, The Ivy’s famous shepherd’s pie, and lobster cocktails.
Set in the heart of Covent Garden with a terrace perfect for people watching, The Ivy Market Grill is a more relaxed all-day café and restaurant where guests are able to drop in for a quick fix – breakfast, coffee, a snack over a meeting; or while away the time, relishing the extensive fare on offer.
The mosaic floor tiles, antique brass chandeliers, distressed paintwork and marble table tops in the café area created a relaxed atmosphere in grand surroundings, and an orange and pewter bar acted as a theatrical centrepiece standing out between the hues of turquoise and green.
We perused the menu and opted for the grilled chicken salad (which came with avocado and mixed leaves on a bed of quinoa, served with a refreshing yoghurt based dressing), and the pea and asparagus risotto with baked goats cheese, and the rack of lamb with aubergine, tomato and thyme jus – all of which we highly recommend! Make sure to try their deliciously moorish truffle and parmesan chips, or their Zucchini Fritti.
We polished off our meal with the sorbet of the day (mango, yum!) to clean the palate, and the coconut pannacotta which came with shavings of pineapple and finely chopped red chilli.
Here are a few of our tips if you’re planning a visit soon:
- They’re open from 7am on weekdays for breakfast – great for early breakfast appointments or for a lunch meeting.
- They’ve recently opened their private room downstairs which can host up to 32 people for a sit down breakfast, lunch or dinner and up to 50 people for drinks & canapés.
- If you turn up without a reservation – don’t worry! Half of the tables are saved for “walk-ins”.
- If you go for breakfast, you have to try the crumpet with Marmite parsley butter (mixed with Dijon mustard)
We hope you managed to pick up a copy of Bespoke Living with this morning’s City A.M – we heard through the grapevine they disappeared like hotcakes!
