Magnolias take centre stage

Despite the recent stormy conditions, the true generic name of diflucan start of spring was captured at the Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall in early March. The Wild Card team led a ‘Sunday for Monday’ sell-in to ensure that the Cornish magnolias were seen in the national press on 3rd March, following a photo shoot with a PA photographer.

Toby Ashworth, proprietor at The Nare Hotel, has championed this campaign, bringing the Great Gardens of Cornwall and Visit Cornwall together to raise awareness of the Cornish magnolias marking the true start of spring in England.

The objective is to make the flowering of the great Magnolia campbellii the genuine national icon symbolising the arrival spring, much like the Japanese celebrate the arrival of cherry blossom each year. Coverage appeared in The Times, The Telegraph, Daily Express, Metro, Independent Online and the local Western Morning News, and the campaign will be built upon each year to raise awareness.
