The Chocolate Show
The Chocolate Show at Olympia’s National Hall in October is the UK’s biggest celebration of the nations favourite sweet treat. The finest chocolatiers and pastry makers from the UK and many countries around the world go to introduce their delightful and delectable new creations.
The Chocolate Show is an exciting opportunity to discover the latest ideas and trends which we always share with our clients. The show was packed with chocolate truffles, bars, fudge, brownies and cakes galore which awaited us. Chocolate surrounded us in every form imaginable, ranging from melted chocolate pouring from taps to the enticing chocolate massage parlour.
One for the first things we came across was the amazingly skilful work of Jen Lindsey-Clark, a head chocolate artist who displayed her work as part of Chocolatician. In celebration of the queens 90th birthday the combination of 3kg of divine Belgian chocolate along with 360 hours of calculated and incredibly proficient work resulted in the outstanding mould of the Majesty the Queen. This is not to forget the chocolate corgis surrounding her which certainly looked far to adorable to eat!
Wild Card also couldn’t resist joining Divine chocolatier Erik Houlihan-Jong in The Divine Chocolate Workshop. We were shown how to identify the aroma notes in different chocolate bars. Alongside being taught how to taste fine quality chocolate using all five senses. After enjoying many different flavours, we ventured to the chocolate theatre where were watched celebrity chefs showing off their skills.
New to the foodie market and a growing trend is chocolate alcohol. Chocolate Champagne was one of the highlights of the show, made with chocolate infused grapes and provided an interesting twist on the luxurious beverage. Rubis Chocolate Wine, was also exhibiting, a blend of tempranillo wine and premium chocolate flavour.
As the show drew to a close Wild Card stayed eagerly to watch the infamous Chocolate Fashion Show. Each of the show stopping designs are made entirely from chocolate. This allowed the phenomenal skills of the designers to be displayed. We felt this fully captured the essence of what The Chocolate Show is really about. With the explosion of weird, wonderful and lets not forget delicious ideas that fill The Chocolate Show never failing to amaze us. We will undoubtedly be going again and look forward to seeing what next year’s show will hold.
