Wild Card – a great place to work

Every winter the chatter around the best places to work increases due to the regular growth in the number of job seekers in Jan and a raft of winners being announced in the PR Week / Glassdoor / Sunday Times Best Places to Work awards.  We thought this was the perfect time to share some of our workplace practices at Wild Card and what makes it a great place to work. We are enjoying exciting times, and a strong period of client growth in 2015 means that we’re looking to increase our existing talent pool with ambitious and dynamic newcomers. So how do we retain and attract the best candidates?

As the clever people at LinkedIn tell every company advertising job vacancies on their platform, candidates do not want job descriptions, they want career opportunities where they can have impact, challenges and progression. From Office Co-ordinator (our current and two previous Office Co-ordinators have been promoted to Junior Account Executive and continued up the ladder to become real stars in the agency) to Group Account / Associate Director, we are keen to meet genuinely interested candidates looking to take their career in communications to the next level (click here to see our vacancies: https://www.wildcard.co.uk/vacancies/). All team members benefit from internal cross-training, mentoring programmes, recognition through monthly awards (celebrated internally and on social media) and weekly line manager catch-ups to make sure they are continually progressing and focused on achieving their goals.

The senior roles for which we are recruiting are particularly interesting as we develop our integrated approach alongside our Head of Social and the in-house digital / design team.  We are currently looking for experienced individuals with strong consumer brand experience to join at this exciting time and support our key accounts and to work with the MD to support the London team and grow the business.

We pride ourselves on offering competitive packages to our team, reflective of the UK PR industry’s best places to work. Extra Wild Card perks alongside the ’standard’ healthcare, pension, season ticket loan and cycle to work benefits, include a reward day scheme, birthdays off, 4pm departure on Fridays (along with an ever popular Friday drinks trolley), monthly team social events, summer team outings (see some of our team news here), L&L sessions from inspirational speakers and a £500 http://www.eta-i.org/sildenafil.html award open to all individuals to use for personal development / training programmes.

We’re very proud of our fabulous client list; with clients ranging from Laurent-Perrier to Lurpak and Highland Spring to Honky Design, we have a portfolio that enables our team to get involved in diverse and exciting campaigns such as major integrated campaigns for household name brands, to product launches in the healthy / clean eating sector and experiential brand activations for premium drinks brands at leading UK events.

Achieving and supporting each other as a team is at the core of Wild Card’s company values. Every Monday we hold a company-wide meeting to share ideas, congratulate team members who have done particularly well in the previous week, identify pressure points so heavy workloads can be supported and share results achieved for clients. Our Smart Media Index, a bespoke media evaluation system, is used widely by the majority of our client base and sets our team’s sights on the strongest campaign results. Those results are rewarded with monthly competitions for the best coverage and social media awards.

The environment in which we work is also important.  The Wild Card open floor-plan helps reinforce our flat hierarchy and sense of teamwork. Our expanding offices near Covent Garden and Somerset House are perfectly placed for commutes from every corner of the capital and beyond, with Waterloo just a stone’s throw across the bridge. Open areas for relaxation, brainstorming and creative / collaborative sessions are available for everyone to use and spring 2016 sees a complete refresh of the décor to the team’s specification. We also believe that every penny invested in the best tech will pay dividends in servicing our clients and the media.

The Wild Card team is a happy and hard-working bunch with every individual having a clear understanding of their role in our bigger picture and the opportunity for their own career growth, along with a great sense of team spirit in pride in our work. If you want to join what we believe is one of the best places to work in communications, or you would like to refer someone who would, get in touch by emailing us through the contact details on our vacancies page here: https://www.wildcard.co.uk/vacancies/. We have perks for referring people too!
