Nestled in the heart of Soho, David Hunt Lighting has opened the doors on its first ever pop-up press preview. With the invitations sent, the lighting styled to perfection and the prosecco poured, the Wild Card interiors team welcomed 20 of the most influential lifestyle and interiors press through the doors of 15 Bateman Street.
The event marked the start of a new era for Britain’s longest surviving manufacturer as the brand announced an exciting new palette collaboration with iconic paint brand Marston & Langinger, alongside a preview of its highly anticipated AW17 collection.
With the likes of Elle Decoration, House & Garden, World of Interiors and Kitchens, Bedrooms & Bathrooms all in the same room – many of whom don’t typically attend events – it was an ideal occasion to put the spotlight on this iconic lighting brand (no pun intended…). With an array of new products on display, a chance to meet the designers and makers, and the promise of a gorgeous goody bag, journalists filled the rooms (many of whom stayed for the entire duration of the drop in event!) and 15 Bateman Street lit up the streets of Soho.
From a tropical cabana to a library room and a cosy wood cabin, each of the rooms in the Georgian townhouse were dressed to showcase the variety and breadth of David Hunt Lighting’s products. Guests were taken on a journey of discovery by the Cotswolds company with videos of the unique Antler Dipping process and an installation that demonstrated the life of a David Hunt Light, from resin to final product, communicating the craftsmanship so integral to the brand.
In terms of key learnings from the event, location is key. With Soho a central base, it is a convenient space where press can stop by, attend after work and before meeting friends for dinner and drinks. It’s also important to style the space incredibly well and be creative – thankfully our client was a Visual Merchandiser in a previous life. One of the many out-takes from the evening was that the event space showcased the products exceptionally well and highlighted the true quality of the brand. Plus, a beautifully styled goodie bag complete with a bespoke candle holder and a small bottle of gin to take home always helps!
